remote trojans

The remote access trojans are the kind of trojans that after they get installed, they make a "backdoor" on your system, so the intruder may return later and access your computer remotely. Usually the remove access is done later by an open port. However, this technique was widely used and now it's very easy detectabale so the evil programmers came to more advanced methods such are ICMP communication or UDP communication hidden in simple DNS requests. Another new method used by the trojan is to connect to a master server instead of waiting for a connection on an open port. This was it cannot be detected by the port scanners and can also pass through firewalls since most firewalls allow connections to be made by local programs and block just external access.
