registry cleaner
Windows registry is a database which stores options or settings for the
operating system. It has all kind of information about hardware,
drivers, software, personal settings, etc. The Windows registry has a
complicated unfriendly structure and is hard to use.
In Linux you find the simillar settings in /etc directory and you can
easily edit any .conf files with a text editor. So it's much easier to
remember where you have modified, considering you can also add comments
and make backups only for the file you are modifying. The windows
application for registry changes is called: regedit
So instead of being in simple and easy to use, the windows registry is
horrible and fat, therefore it has to be cleaned from time to time
because a lot of trash gets there.
A registry cleaner is a program designed to remove redundant or unwanted
items from the registry.
